U.S.M.C. Battle Color Ceremony Returns to Eisenhower

On Thursday, March 8, 2007, students and staff at Eisenhower High School were privileged to witness the United States Marine Corps Battle Color Ceremony. The Marines featured in the Battle Color ceremony include: "The Commandant's Own," the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps; the Silent Drill Platoon; and the Marine Corps Color Guard.

The Corps of more than 80 Marine musicians, dressed in ceremonial red and white uniforms, is known world-wide as a premier musical marching unit. The Silent Drill Platoon execute a series of calculated drill movements and precise handling of their hand-polished, 10 and one-half pound, M-1 Garand rifles with fixed bayonets. The routine concludes with a unique rifle inspections sequence demonstrating elaborate rifle spins and tosses.
