Five 2009 graduates from Eisenhower High School have earned Advanced Placement
(AP) Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program provides motivated and
academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level
courses while still in high school and to earn college credit for successful
performance on the AP Exams. About 18 percent of the nearly 1.7 million students
worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to earn
an AP Scholar Award.
Lisa Ta qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average
grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on five
or more of these exams. Ta’s AP tests included English Language and Composition,
English Literature and Composition, Government and Politics: United States,
Statistics, and United States History. Ta was the Salutatorian for the Class
of 2009.
Eric Clayton, Jennifer Jones, Daniel Killam, and Janet Robles qualified for
the AP Scholar Award which is granted to students who receive grades of 3 or
higher on three or more AP Exams.
Clayton’s high scoring AP tests included English Language and Composition,
English Literature and Composition, and United States History.
For Jones, her high scoring tests were English Language and Composition along
with English Literature and Composition, and she received a perfect score (5)
on Government and Politics: United States.
Killam scored high on Calculus, Government and Politics: United States, and
Statistics.
Earning a perfect score on the Spanish Language AP test was Robles who also
scored high on Government and Politics: United States and Spanish Literature.
At Eisenhower High School, AP classes are offered in English, Math, Science,
History, Spanish, French, and Art. Many colleges offer students who pass the
tests with scores of 3, 4, or 5 exemptions with credit from college classes.
